September 2009 - Marks Increase in Domestic Passenger and Aircraft Movement


Domestic flight traffic still enjoyed a 36% increase for the month of September. Flight movements of PAL and Air Philippines remain steady as they are operating the same flight schedule of last year. PAL Express imporoved with a 5% increase due to Cagayan flight frequency. Cebu Pacific on the other hand, still has the most number of flights because of its additional routes and frequency. While domestic flight increased, international flights decreased by 6% which was greatly affected by the loss of PAL Incheon route which had a total of 32 flights last year. Korean Air has a positive variance of 74% advantage amongst the three remaining airlines servicing Incheon flights. Asiana Air has reduced flights from 50 to 40 this year. General Aviation flight traffic dropped by 31% low.

Passengers traffic for the domestic reached a total of 294,434 and registered a 23% increase as compared to last year’s traffic of the same period. Again, Cebu Pacific carries the most number of passengers which contributed 29% and PAL with 12% of the airport’s total passengers. On the other hand, international passenger traffic dropped by 3%. Korean Air (Incheon) registered a total of 10,506 passengers from 3,864 of last year or equivalent to 172% increase. Like in the aircraft movement, General Aviation suffered a 35% decline as air sight-seeing by most Koreans dropped this year.

Domestic cargo volume declined by 1% against the same period of last year. Cebu Pacific and PAL cargo movements declined by 9% and 12% respectively. However, PEAC had a 77% increase and a new player Zest Air chipped in 5% of the total cargo volume. And finally after eight long months, international cargo traffic pulled up a turn around performance with an 11% high. Korean Air registered a remarkable volume of cargo with a 127,354 kgs. as compared to 2,963 kgs. of the same period of last year.
