Flag raising ceremony at MCIAA is done every first Monday of the month. But for the month of November, the flag raising ceremony of MCIAA was held on the first Tuesday of the month - November 3, 2009 - for Monday is an official non-working holiday. The said event was sponsored by the Operations Department headed by Mr. Samuel Elle, DTOD manager who introduced the guest speaker in the person of Engr. Emmanuel Victor Tatoy of PETRON.

As a part of the said ceremony, recognitions were given to some deserving employees. Likewise, an awarding for the first Mactan Cebu International Airport Athletic Association Sports Tournament (MCIAAA) for basketball was done. Listed below are the winners:

2nd Runner Up (trophy + Php 5,000.00) – VasCor
1st Runner Up (trophy + Php 8,000.00) – MCIA Blue Team headed by GM Danilo
                                                            Augusto B. Francia
Champion (trophy + Php 10,000.00) – Air Force

After the awarding, GM Danilo Augusto B. Francia congratulated all the winners of the first MCIAAA Sports Tournament and those employees that were given recognitions. He encouraged everyone to be active and to participate in the upcoming events in the institution. Likewise, he also cited some activities that MCIAA are planning to do on the upcoming anniversary celebration which will be on December 18, 2009.
